چکیده
Present study has been carried out to understand the mating strategies of Eremurus himalaicus Baker., important medicinal endemic plant, for its sustainable utilization. The inflorescence architecture, large numbers attractive flowers, presence sterile flowers which give specific arrangement inflorescence, coloured, androecia and nectaries attract pollinators. Protoandry, moderate high pollen ovule ratio, unique movement stigma away from dehiscing anthers, pedicels breeding experiment revealed that species is primarily geitonogamous but xanogamy though rare also operative. exine sculpture size depicts both anemophily entomophily operative in species. may provide information conservation this plant categorized as threatened by various authors.

Experimental floral and inflorescence trait manipulations affect pollinator preference and function in a hummingbird-pollinated plant.
PREMISE OF THE STUDY Controversy is ongoing regarding the importance of pollinator-mediated selection as a source of observed patterns of floral diversity. Although increasing evidence exists of pollinator-mediated selection acting on female reproductive success, there is still limited understanding of pollinator-mediated selection on floral traits via male reproductive success. Here we quantif...
متن کاملInflorescence Architecture and Floral Morphology of Aratitiyopea lopezii (Xyridaceae)
Aratitiyopea lopezii is a robust perennial species of Xyridaceae from seasonally saturated, midto high-elevation, sandstone and granite sites in northern South America. The species lacks the scapose inflorescence characteristic of Xyridaceae and, having the gestalt of a rhizomatous bromeliad, it is seemingly aberrant in the family. However, closer examination confirms features consistent with t...
متن کاملFloral initiation and inflorescence architecture: a comparative view.
BACKGROUND A huge variety of plant forms can be found in nature. This is particularly noticeable for inflorescences, the region of the plant that contains the flowers. The architecture of the inflorescence depends on its branching pattern and on the relative position where flowers are formed. In model species such as Arabidopsis thaliana or Antirrhinum majus the key genes that regulate the init...
متن کاملPollinator-induced twisting of flowers sidesteps floral architecture constraints
Specific pollen placement by zygomorphic flowers on pollinators is one of the key innovations of angiosperm evolution [1]. In most phylogenetic lineages that have evolved zygomorphic flowers, reproductive organs are positioned either in the lower or upper part of the flower. Although these specific positions largely enhance pollen economy, they also represent architectural constraints such that...

In the present study EtOAc, MeOH, and aqueous extracts of Eremurus himalaicus were evaluated for hypoglycaemic effect in normal rats using both oral glucose tolerance test and 14-day oral administration study. Phytochemical and physicochemical screening was also done. In oral glucose tolerance test the aqueous and MeOH extracts of Eremurus himalaicus at a dose level of 500 mg/kg body weight pri...
